You don't have to change who you are to be who you are...

I remember when feminism was about freedom from gender-specific expectations. Just because you're a woman, you don't have to be responsible for housekeeping. Just because you're a man, lawn mowing is not innately your job.

Today it seems that diversity within is unacceptable - that if you feel a variance from the external expectations for your gender, you must change your gender in order to be liberated.

This is the opposite of freedom and acceptance.

Pride in the diversity within - not only the diversity without.

Man will always be man... envy will destroy

From the movie "Enemy at the Gates"

Commisar Danilov: I've been such a fool, Vassili. Man will always be a man. There is no new man. We tried so hard to create a society that was equal, where there'd be nothing to envy your neighbour. But there's always something to envy. A smile, a friendship, something you don't have and want to appropriate. In this world, even a Soviet one, there will always be rich and poor. Rich in gifts, poor in gifts. Rich in love, poor in love.
