Truth is hard work

Understanding the reality of a situation involves dilligent investigation - setting aside assumptions - and resolve to set aside any inclination for emotional self-protection. I.E. what you find out may be uncomfortable and cause you emotional discomfort.

In a world of hurry and worry, we are disinclined to truly examine anything in depth. A twitter world has trained us to accept quick and shallow information sharing as sufficient.

Nothing is that simple - neither the history of the past nor the reality of the present. But nuanced understanding requires humility and effort which is lacking from our daily experience of point-and-get online shopping and instant foods.

Food farming (as opposed to industrial mono-crop production) is an antidote - it involves a humble bending to reality combined with devoted effort to realize an uncertain but highly sought good.

Few have the capacity to access soil, rain, sun in order to experience this direct relationship. As our population centers more and more in cities, this perspective on life is absent from an increasing majority of voters - decision-makers affecting us all.

End of morning rant.
